I'm Marissa! An island girl living on Maui with a passion for travel and a slow, simple, nature based lifestyle. I grew up in Minnesota, but knew from a young age that I wanted to live somewhere tropical. So when I turned 18, I booked a 1 way ticket to Hawaii with less than $1000 to my name! No house, job, or plan in place, just a dream to live on an island!

 

Taking the leap to move halfway across the country right out of high school was one of the biggest decisions I’ve ever made~ 9 years later and I can still confidently say it was also one of the best! It was the catalyst to all of my world travels and has completely changed my life. I have since backpacked through dozens of countries and still get to call Hawaii my home. It hasn’t always been easy, creating the life of my dreams has taken years of discipline and dedication. Though this is still just the beginning, I’ve learned a lot along the way and am passionate about teaching others how to do the same.
